1. Getting started

Sign in to your ScanMintQR account before using ecommerce tools. Your available features depend on your current ScanMintQR subscription plan.

  1. Open ScanMintQR.
  2. Select Log in or create a new account.
  3. After signing in, open your dashboard.
  4. Open the ecommerce or connected stores section.

2. Connecting BigCommerce

Install ScanMintQR from BigCommerce and authorise access to your product catalogue. ScanMintQR requests only the permissions required to read product information and perform supported product updates.

  1. Open Apps in your BigCommerce control panel.
  2. Install or open ScanMintQR.
  3. Sign in to your ScanMintQR account when prompted.
  4. Complete the connection process.
  5. Open your connected BigCommerce catalogue.

Good to know

If you uninstall and later reinstall ScanMintQR, your existing ScanMintQR asset mappings can be preserved while the connection credentials are securely refreshed.

3. Using the product catalogue

Your connected catalogue lets you find products and identify items that need QR codes, barcodes or SKU information.

Search

Use the search box to find products by product name, SKU or product ID.

Catalogue filters

  • All products
  • Products with an SKU
  • Products missing an SKU
  • Products missing a QR code
  • Products missing a barcode
  • Products missing both a QR code and barcode

You can also select multiple visible products to use supported bulk actions.

4. Generating product QR codes

Single product

  1. Find the product in your catalogue.
  2. Open the product's QR code section.
  3. Select Generate QR code.
  4. Wait for the QR code preview to appear.
  5. Use the download option to save the generated QR code.

Bulk QR generation

  1. Select the products you want to process.
  2. Choose Generate QR codes.
  3. ScanMintQR processes the selected products and shows a result summary.

Generating a QR code again for the same connected product updates the existing mapped asset instead of creating unnecessary duplicate mappings.

5. Generating product barcodes

ScanMintQR creates Code 128 product barcodes using a valid product SKU.

  1. Find a product with a valid SKU.
  2. Choose your preferred barcode label size.
  3. Select Generate barcode.
  4. Review the barcode preview.
  5. Download the barcode when ready.

Available label sizes

  • 50 × 25 mm
  • 40 × 30 mm
  • 60 × 40 mm

SKU required

A product barcode cannot be generated until ScanMintQR can safely identify the correct SKU. This prevents ambiguous or incorrect barcodes from being created.

6. SKU generation

Eligible ScanMintQR plans can generate unique SKUs for products or variants where an SKU is missing.

Existing SKU protection

ScanMintQR does not overwrite an existing SKU. If an SKU already exists, it is treated as protected.

Variant-safe SKU generation

Products with variants are handled individually. ScanMintQR can target an exact variant with a missing SKU without changing identifiers already assigned to other variants.

Bulk missing-SKU generation

  1. Select eligible products from the catalogue.
  2. Choose Generate missing SKUs.
  3. ScanMintQR fills only missing SKU values.
  4. Existing product and variant SKUs remain unchanged.

7. Previews and downloads

Generated QR codes and barcodes are linked to the corresponding connected product so previews remain available when you return to the catalogue.

  • Preview generated QR codes.
  • Preview generated product barcodes.
  • Download QR code images.
  • Download supported barcode formats.

8. Plans and ecommerce access

Your available ecommerce features depend on your active ScanMintQR subscription.

Pro

Connect one supported ecommerce store and use eligible QR and barcode tools.

Premium

Connect multiple supported ecommerce stores and access additional ecommerce features including supported automatic missing-SKU tools.

9. Troubleshooting

My product does not appear

Refresh the catalogue and check your search or filter settings. Large catalogues may require a short time to load all pages.

A barcode cannot be generated

Check that the product has a valid SKU. ScanMintQR will not create a barcode where the correct SKU cannot be determined safely.

I cannot generate an SKU

Check that your current plan includes the required SKU feature and confirm that the selected product or variant does not already have an SKU.

My store was disconnected

Reinstall or reconnect ScanMintQR from the ecommerce platform. Existing ScanMintQR records may remain linked to the connection after secure reauthorisation.
